Other news can be found on our Face book page with pretty pictures and everything. It’s going to be a great Fifteenth year together. We are honored to be your friends and honored to have you consistently show your love and support for us. Thank you. Friends, Family, Fans You are our lifeblood, we appreciate that for sure.
03/04 Monkey Biz was a great time last weekend. Happy Spring! it's March 4th So March Forth and conquer! See you soon. Drop us a line if you want - we would love to hear from you! till next time... 02/13 - We have a little time on our hands so we are enjoying it. We all decided early last fall (around September) to taper back our gig schedule to about two a month. Although some months its a bit more and some a bit less like this month. So you may have to pay closer attention to our schedule. Shoot us an e-mail if you would like updates on our current gigs. fivesmoothstones.v@gmail.com We would love to add you and keep you updated. - We promise not to be pesty about it either just a note about once a month. 2011
8/21 - What a Fantastic summer we have had. We have finally come to an end of our “2011 summer tour" (something like 22 weekends in a row) and have made some absolutely fantastic memories. Thanks to all of you - we are fiercely aware of how much you love us, and would like to take a moment to say - Thank you! Our family, friends, and fans are what keeps us going strong, and keep the fire and drive alive in us! We meet the most awesome people! We are honored and humbled to call you our friends, and even though we are extremely happy to have two weekends off, we will be just as happy to get back on stage and play a song or two for you soon. See you then.
3/30 - Welcome Spring!!! We have lots of Great Gigs comming up and are looking forward to each and every one of them. We were sweetly suprised by our long time friends Mike and Rhonda showing up at Monkey Biz to celebrate their 7th year Annaversary with us this last weekend. Seven years ago we crowded onto a 4x8 postage stamp sized stage at TK's bar and celebrated their wedding day with them. Saturday night they drove into the MB parking lot with Randy from Rod's limos, a cool guy that is a Rod Stewart look a like - and the Monkey Biz Regulars didn't know what to think. Other FSS News: Cottonwood folks have come down to party with us a couple of times. First at Monkey Bizness lead by our rocker friends Mandy Crow and Dane Crea and again at the New Frontier Lead by our long time friends Tracy and Craig Hood - what can we say? Prairie Friends Rock!!! And thanks guys - Somehow some way we will be up to see you this year. Lastly we have already booked an end of the world party with the Fab Four Guys; Cory, Jim, Jeff, and Jay. It is going to be an oustanding way to go out if you ask us.
2/9
Dear Jim,
Please accept my humble apologies for not keeping up to date on the FSS website. I promise to do a better job of keeping you informed about what is going on in the Band.
Respectfully,
Lil’ Beasty
1/1 - Happy New Year Everyone!!! 2011 is going to be a terrific year!
2010
7/20 -Well, Five Smooth Stones have rumbled through the first half of summer with some incredible stories and fond memories. We started the FSS groove train with Hawg Wallow up at Warm Lake, then Hog Slaughter over in Sand Hollow, then partook in the ICMS Fun Valley Biker Rally in Pine, and finally ended with Birchstock in Pilot Rock OR. Each event was unique and special in it’s own right. Not only did we get to play great music together we also got to fish, hike, save troubled paddle-boaters, stare up into the stars, and into the warmth of bon-fires, we were shocked and awed by the young drummer who we let up on stage to play, we sang karaoke with you and fell off speakers, we witnessed a killer natural light show at 3:00am, we also had a chance to eat some of the best barbeque summer had to offer at every one of these events. We feel very fortunate to be able to entertain and participate in all of these fun summer outings, and your friendship with us, towards us, and for us keeps Five Smooth Stones standing strong. Thank you.
Summer is not over yet but, for now, the traveling gigs are over and we will be at a local “watering hole” near you soon. Check the calendar to the right and it will let you know where we plan to be.
Next up: Monkey Bizness on the 23rd and 24th
3/11- Spring is upon us! It has been awesome seeing so many of you out and about. We appreciate all of you making the effort to come out and see us! We finally decided to put our original up for you to hear. The 2003 demo of our song ”Deceiver” has been downloaded to our FSS myspace player, just remember folks that it is a demo version.
We also decided to join Face Book to further spread our propaganda. You can find us here if you would like to add us.
One last thing, we have t-shirts available (we’ve had em for a long time, we just suk at promotion) If your interested click the contact us button and send us and e-mail we can give you prices & ect. from there. We have this weekend off…you may see a few of us out celebrating Atomic Art’s 10th anniversary at the Whisky River in Nampa on Saturday. If not, we’ll see you at our next gig at the Monkey Bizness – March 19th and 20th.
1/04 - Happy New Year to you all!
We had a fabulous good-bye weekend for 2009 and a great send-off for our brother Danny. New Years was as entertaining as always and many of you braved the slick roads to ring in 2010 with the Monkey Bizness crew and us. Thanks to all of you for making 2009 one of the best years yet!
The first night of the year was fairly quiet due the excessive party you made out of new-years eve night, but that made it possible for us to ease our new brother - John Wellman into the Five Smooth Stones groove. We had three guitars going that night and the sound was amazing. Somehow the “spider bites” that the girls ordered got the best of Stacey and the after party was a mixture of charm school disregard and pure Tequila and Jameson craziness.
Saturday the 2nd the full moon was out and we could tell. We had a great time; although at moments we felt like we were in a segment of “night of the living dead” because the zombie or zombies of the evening wanted to eat our brains and would not leave us alone in peace even on breaks - it was a very comical situation.
All in all excellent music was played and we started a new page in the FSS yearbook. We all are looking forward to 2010 and the opportunities we have to play great music together and entertain our fans and good friends. Next up: The New Frontier January 8th and 9th 2010. See you there.
2009
12/15 - Please follow this link for a message from Danny regarding his leaving Five Smooth Stones.
11/19 - We want to give ICMS a huge thanks for having us out for their annual Canned Food Drive Dance at Victors Hogs and Horns last weekend. It was a very enjoyable “rocktabulous” night for us and we couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of people to spend it with. Victor's was packed pretty much all night long, and Victor’s Staff was awesome to all of us!
Thanks also to our friends from Bad Ass Bikes, Cycle Addiction, Lloyd Lumber, we know you rocked till you dropped.
We’ll see you at The New Frontier this weekend.
11/2 - We really enjoyed Halloween weekend this year. Both nights were packed with all of our fans and friends. The costumes on Saturday night were outstanding and all of you went well beyond our expectations for spooky, sexy and extra creepy. Jagermeister bottles, cute little milkmaids, ghastly ghouls, inmates, FBI agents, and a plethora of wiches, hags, vampires, and un-dead. Thanks to all of you who made Halloween a fantastic night. We’re doing back-to-back gigs at the Monkey Biz so we will see you there again this weekend.
7/30 - Ah, another fantastic Summer. We have been going non-stop for 10 weeks now and have the summer “traveling” finished. What a ride!!! Thanks to all of you who have come out and partied with us. We’re feeling a bit guilty for not keeping the website more up to date. Somewhere between the Greencreek Pig Picking, Birchstock, the ICMS Fun Valley Ride, and Biker Bash, we intended to give you a scoop on what went on. However, despite our best intentions, it never really happened till now… And it really is only going to be a few “snap shots” of the fun we had. Lets see… we seem to recall a beautiful lightning show happening while we were playing on the covered deck of a prow front house, in Greencreek. We had a killer jam session with Stovepipe Thicket and friends from Ashes to Ashes in Pilot Rock. There was a streaker - “Tell them about shrinkage, Jerry!” - at the Birchstock Party in Pilot Rock, and an almost-broken foot (due to the Hot Tub Incident) in Pine, ID. We experienced our first Foam Party (that was really amazing), and that guy in a red, white & blue thong - “Shrinkage, Jerry, shrinkage!” (seems to be a theme this summer). We also discovered a new disturbing drinking game that Colleen from the Royal Room has made up, called: “Go pick a bottle off the back shelf...”.
We’ve ridden in poker runs, bummed early breakfast from campers, drank exotic concoctions, been to the Emergency Room, run amok in the Green Room, enjoyed our Chilladas, gin & tonics, Jack & Coke, Jagerbombs and Red Bull vodkas. We’ve met new friends and partied with old buddies. We even careened off our trailer wheels at one point sending a fender and tire pieces & parts up 50’ in the air that Tony/Steph, Jack/Stace had to dodge on their bikes, and had to make a detour back to Wieser to replace the trailer tires (whew)… All in all it has been a fantastic summer, and it’s still going strong. This weekend we are at Monkey Biz, and that is always a hoot. On August 7th and 8th we will be at the New Frontier so, NO EXCUSES. We will be halfway between Boise and Nampa, so you MUST come out and party with us. After that, we’re at the Brandon Titus Memorial Ride (Aug 15), and then our regular rotation at Monkey Bizness (Sept 4, 5). Then, lest we forget, our ‘Heaven’s Gate’ Party at Monkey Biz on 9/9/09 with our friends from OCD – it’s a follow up to our legendary 6/6/06 party, and it’s going to melt your face off!
3/24 - The Friday the 13th/St. Patrick's Day weekend in Cottonwood at
the Royal Room did not disappoint us. The prairie enthusiasm was
electric, and we were welcomed both nights with many loyal friends and
family. We love that huge stage that Sara and Colleen built! Saturday night, the green
drinks got the best of Colleen, one of our hosts, and the
pool table dancing was memorable. We also had the pleasure of jamming
with our good friend Tom Bower who helped us out on several songs. We
always have an awesome time up in Cottonwood. Thanks to all of our
"North Idaho" friends for making it one hell of a party - you never let
us down. COMING UP: We are again honored to be playing for the Brandon
Titus Memorial Ride on August 15th, 2009 at the Powerhouse. Last years
event was a great experience and we are looking forward to this
year's ride. NEXT UP: We're playing back-to-back weekends at Monkey Bizness. We were scheduled to play April 3rd & 4th, but at the last minute were called
in to help Monkey Bizness out with a pesky cancellation. So we will be
listening to Jerry yell at us to "Shut up and Play!" two weekends in a
row: This weekend - March 27th & 28th, and the following weekend - April 3rd &
4th. We hope to see you out and about.
2/13 - Last weekend really felt good to be up on the Monkey Biz stage
playing again. We were pleased so many of you came out to see us. The
"Heavens Gate" show was confirmed for 9/9/09 - this is a follow up show
to our legendary 6/6/06 (666 party) we played at Monkey Biz with OCD.
We will have more details closer to the time of that show. The calendar
is filling up nicely and there are some cool surprises in store for both
us and you. Oh, and our friend Shane Michaels from "The Sugarlane Band"
was out on Saturday night, and has recently posted a bootleg video of us
playing "Copperhead Road" (Steve Earle) on our myspace comments section. We will add
it to our myspace videos, but we would like to thank Shane for the cool
gesture right now. You may want to check it out. Our next gig is
scheduled for the 6th and 7th of March at our home base Monkey Bizness.
1/2 - Our first gig of 2009 is tonight & tomorrow night @ Monkey Bizness in Nampa. We partied hard for New Year's Eve, and celebrated the close of a great year for FSS, but now it's time to get geared up for what '09 has to offer. We think it's gonna kick some ass, but we need your help to get it off to a proper start. Come on out, and let's do this.
2008
11/6 - Halloween was awesome at the Red Eye! Thanks to all our friends who came out. Big thanks to Hoss & the Red Eye staff for being so cool and putting on a great party. Thanks to the whole damn town of Kuna for making it so much fun. It was a full bar all night, and there were many great costumes - some that will be hard to forget for awhile. Next up for FSS will be a weekend of Monkey Bizness in Nampa(Nov. 14,15).
10/10 - Our two remaining dates at Terry's have been cancelled. Tough economic times seem to be the reason, and we're hoping we'll be back there in the future. Sorry to you Boise folks who were so faithful to catch us when we have been out at Terry's. We want to maintain a presence in Boise, and we'll be looking around for some other gigs. Halloween at the Red Eye is the next thing on the schedule, and we're expecting a great night. We're hoping a bunch of you will put on a crazy costume, and party with us in Kuna. We appreciate the support so many of you give us. Oh, and feel free to let Terry's know if you'd like them to get us back... just be nice about it.
10/6 - friday night was another good one for us at the royal room in cottonwood. we're damn happy about our relationship w/ sarah & colleen (who built an awesome stage, which easily puts to shame the stages we usually frequent). they were celebrating 2 years of owning the royal room - w/ a toga party. so, we brought out a few of our friends, and a bunch of locals showed up, and we all just hung out, rocked, danced, & generally partied our asses off. we'll be back there, if anything, more often in the future.
saturday was wedding day. tony, jack, stacey & danny were privileged to provide some music during the service for our friends seth & dawn. the wedding was nice, sweet, short, and necessary - otherwise the reception party wouldn't have made a lot of sense.
then it was on to the greencreek community hall - a big room, big stage, lots of people, tasty food, and oh so much alcohol.
fss had the honor of sharing our stage that night with some truly exceptional people. the father of the bride, tom bower, graced us with his exuberant guitar wizardry, priceless poetry(?) & funny hat more than once. good friend tony syme, visiting all the way from nyc (new york city!!?), filled in nicely on bass when jack was... well, somewhat performance impaired. and our own tony anderson was a transparently proud father, when joined on vocals by his kids - melissa, daniel & cheyenne - at various times. wait, and didn't father of the groom, marty crane wander up there for a song too? did we get him behind a mic? someone probably should have written this shit down.
it will certainly prove to be a memorable event, and we sincerely congratulate seth & dawn and their families.
all said, we enjoyed a great weekend, and we're a lucky freakin' band.
our next visit to cottonwood is currently being planned around the st patty's holiday. although, it looks like we may be drawing some of those prairie folk in our direction for the upcoming new year's bash (monkey bizness, nampa). we are anticipating some more great times if that all works out.
8/20 - Another photo album is up. This one is in "tilt-o-vision". Seriously, this is more of an experiment than anything. Be sure to let us know if you hate it, or if you can't make it work for you. The album features photos from our weekend in Cottonwood at Biker Bash in July. Thanks to Dave & Jamie for those pics. Lots more stuff to come.
8/18 - The photo update is underway. In fact, you can go to our "Photos" page and see the first new photo album. This is basically just a re-packaging of the pictures we already had up here on the website, as well as a few which can be found on the MySpace page. There will be many additions in the coming week(s), so keep checking back. Of course, if you're still sitting on any FSS photos of your own, let us know if we can get you to share them with us. It will be much appreciated.
7/22 - biker bash 2008 - friday night was fun - really fun. but saturday night was crazy. never have we looked out at such a sea of people, so in tune w/ us and so involved. that was a special night. a party on the prarie with those idaho county folks is like nothing else. we brought up between 15-20 friends & family from the treasure valley, and we all had a blast all weekend. thanks colleen & sara and all the royal room staff. thanks to the entire extended crane family. big thanks to our hosts seth & dawn especially, for putting up w/ like 20 people & 8 animals all hanging around your place for 3+ days. thanks cottonwood.
6/24 - It's Summer 2008! We're ready to kick off what is sure to be a great summer for Five Smooth Stones. It starts for us this Saturday (6/28) at Birchstock 2008 in Pilot Rock, OR (an open pasture, flat-bed trailer, tasty bbq, a few kegs, lots of smiling faces, and live rock & roll music... should be fun). Our next stop for the summer is the Red Eye in Kuna (July 11,12), followed by Biker Bash in Cottonwood, ID (July 18,19). August 1st & 2nd will find us in Boise at Terry's State St Saloon, and then we'll head back to Pilot Rock, OR for a private party sometime mid-month. We're confirmed for and honored to play the Brandon Titus Memorial Ride on August 23rd at the Powerhouse in Boise, and finally we're playing back in Nampa August 29th & 30th at Monkey Bizness. That covers June, July & August, and you'll notice we're only playing 3 normal weekend gigs here in the valley, and only one weekend in Nampa, so plan accordingly. Of course, we'd love to drag a bunch of you along w/ us on that Cottonwood road trip. Ask anyone who's been to Biker Bash, and they'll tell you what a killer time that is. So, we've got our summer plans mapped out, and hopefully most of you will find some time to hang out & rock with us.
5/14 - We're still here! No, we didn't break up. And no, we're not looking for a guitar player. If there are other rumors floating around or questions we've failed to answer, just take them to the only source for reliable information on our band ---> US! With that stuff out of the way, here's a bit of news... This summer should be another great one for FSS. As always (5 years running), we have Biker Bash (July 17,18) in Cottonwood, ID. This is always an awesome party, and usually the most flat-out fun gig of our summer. A year ago, we had a blast playing out on the pasture (on a big 'ole flat-bed trailer) at the Byrnes' farm on Birch Creek, for their "Birch Stock" party. Ever since, we've been crossing our fingers & hoping they'd decide to make it a yearly event. We recently confirmed our return appearance at the 2nd Annual Birch Stock Festival (maybe festival is a stretch), June 28th in Pilot Rock, OR. We'll still be hitting our usual local bars (Monkey Biz, Barb's, Terry's, Red Eye) during the summer as well. Keep checking back, as we may be moving a couple of gigs around, and perhaps adding more things to the schedule. We'll see you guys out there.
3/29 - J.W. got married yesterday! We're all excited for he & Jacki, and we were in the mood to party hard last night. Thanks to all our friends who came out to Barb's Friday night, it was freakin' cool to have so many of you out, and such a big crowd all night. We're back at Barb's tonight.
3/17 - We enjoyed a kick-ass St Pattys party Saturday night @ the Red Eye in Kuna. The place was packed, and folks were damn sure having a good time. We enjoyed having lots of our friends in attendance, and special thanks goes to Derek & Bill from Pilot Error for jamming with us on a few tunes. We’re off this coming week, but you can find us rocking at Barb’s Barr in Nampa on March 28,29.
3/03 - We played back at Terry's a couple weeks ago, and the crowds were great again. We saw lots of friends, and had lots of fun as usual. Then, last Friday we made our first trip (and there will likely be more) to Nyssa, OR. Bob's Steaks & Spirits has taken over the building which used to house Miss Sally's Gentleman's Club, and Bob has turned it into a really nice restaraunt and bar. We enjoyed good food & drinks, a friendly crowd, and a truly pleasant owner & staff. Bob expressed interest in getting us back out there, and we certainly would love to do it again. We're now halfway through a 4-weekend "tour" (Boise, Nyssa, Nampa, Kuna). This coming Friday & Saturday we'll be at Monkey Bizness in Nampa (March 7,8), then its the Red Eye Bar & Grill in Kuna (March 14,15). Pick a night (or 2,3,4), and come out to see us.
2/07 - Here's an update on the latest happenings: Our first gig at Terry's in Boise seemed to go really well. We certainly had fun, and there were a bunch of our friends out for the weekend. We're excited about continuing at Terry's, and we know many of you will appreciate having us out in Boise a bit more often.
Last weekend was cool at Monkey Biz.
We're off for a couple weeks, then we're back at Terry's (Feb 22 & 23). The following Friday night (2/29) will find us in Nyssa, Oregon at Bob's Place. Bob's used to be "Miss Sally's", but the strippers are gone (we think), and it's just a normal bar now (we think). Actually, we don't really know what to expect, so we'll have to find out when we get there. The gigs in these small towns are usually kick ass for us. Who knows, it could turn into a regular thing like Cottonwood, Council, Pendleton/Pilot Rock, etc.
*WEBSITE UPDATE - You can now see individual profiles for all the band members. Just hit the "Bio" link below, then click on the individual photos to see each person's profile. Perhaps it will shed some light on what influences each of us, and what we enjoy most... if you give a damn.
1/01 - Happy New Year! Thanks to everyone who showed up at Monkey Biz (and DIDN'T get into a fight) for making it a great New Year's Eve party. 2008 should be a great year for FSS, and we'll start it at Terry's State St Saloon in Boise on Jan 11 & 12. See you out there.
2007
12/17 - Cottonwood came through once again. They just know how to have a party there, it's that simple. Sara and Colleen & the Royal Room staff put together a great Mexican-themed party, and we were just lucky to get in on it. The bar was crowded, the dance floor was crowded, it even got a bit crowded on-stage at times - and what a fun crowd it was. Thanks again to the people of the Cottonwood-Grangeville area communities, and to all our extended FSS family out there. You guys remind us how cool it is being in THIS band, and we always love being on the prairie. See you all at Biker Bash '08, if not before then.
12/05 - Our dates for 2008 are posted! Of course, as the year goes on, there will likely be more dates added (and possibly some changes). But start marking them on your calendar, so you'll be sure not to miss us. We're excited to add Terry's State Street Saloon to the regular rotation, as well as a few gigs at the Red Eye in Kuna (including Halloween). For yet another year, we're thankful to be invited back to play at Barb's Tavern, and the folks who gave FSS our first shot at a gig (6-7 years ago) - Jeff & the Monkey Biz crew - still haven't fired us! In July (18,19) we'll be back at Biker Bash in Cottonwood once again. Can you believe this will be year number FIVE for us? If you STILL haven't been to Biker Bash...
11/16 - We're starting to fill in the calendar for 2008, and just so you know, next year is shaping up to be a bit different from past years for FSS. Without mentioning anything specific, we can say we'll be spending more time in ADA county than in past years. We'll delay announcing the 2008 dates until we get a few more of them confirmed, but we're excited to have some new places figuring prominantly into our schedule. One place that will definately figure into our '08 plans is Monkey Bizness in Nampa - and we'll be there tonight and tomorrow night, starting at 9pm. Come out and party with us!
10/29 - We had a cool Halloween Party at Monkey Biz last Saturday. There were some great costumes out there. We even had an escaped IDOE Inmate in attendance. There was an abundance of (rather twisted) creativity to be seen. Thanks to all our Monkey Biz friends for another great weekend. We're at Barb's Tavern this coming weekend (11/2,11/3).
10/20 - Mason Jenkins memorial service info: Memorial Service will be Tuesday, October 23rd - 6:00pm at 1st Church of the Nazarene (601 16th Ave S, Nampa)
A fellowship time will follow the service at New Hope Baptist Church (1829 W Iowa Ave, Nampa)
Here's our connection: Eddie Jenkins (Mason's father) was our first drummer. The band had been struggling to get off the ground for almost two years before Eddie came along, but when he did, everything finally came together. It was during his time in the band that many of you first discovered us. We started playing regularly at Monkey Bizness & Barb's Tavern, and we began playing various local biker events, all with Eddie behind the drumkit. Those gigs are still the core of our schedule every year. We wouldn't have built the following we have, or established ourselves in this Valley the way we have, if it weren't for our beginnings with Eddie. If you're a fan of Five Smooth Stones, or if you're connected to the band in any way, we hope you'll at least consider attending Mason's service, and join us in supporting these members of our family. 10/17 - Our dear friends Eddie, Becky & Jazzy are in our thoughts, and we're praying for their comfort and care.
October 16th, 2007 2:00pm
Dearest Friends and Family
This morning our precious baby boy left the care of his Daddy, Mommy and Big Sissy to go be in the loving care of Jesus’ arms. Our hearts are broken, but we are rejoicing that he is pefectly healed. Thank you all for your faithful prayers these past 2 1/2 years and for loving our lil guy and our family so much.
We’ll post more as we know more about Mason’s memorial service.
-----
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort. We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many."
2 Corinthians 1:3-11
In His Love & Care
Eddie, Becky, Jazzy & Mason
10/15 - OK, it's probably about time for an update... A few weeks ago, we played at The Redeye Bar & Grill in Kuna for their annual luau party, and it was awesome. The place was packed most of the night, and everyone was definately there to party. We're hoping the Red Eye will keep inviting us back, because we always have a blast with them. To think we've played in the Treasure Valley for like 7 years, and only now are discovering what a great party town Kuna is...Shows how much we know. Last Saturday we finally got to play the Eastside Tavern again. The bar was celebrating their 1 year anniversary under new ownership. The folks out there responded really well to us, and although the Eastside may not plan to book bands often, we hope Glenn will invite us back again. One highlight from the evening was having local musicians Steve & Danny from The Need in attendance. It was a pleasure to hang out with them and to hear their feedback. Folks, go check out The Need sometime (find a link to their website on our "Local Bands" page). They're a great band, and a real class act. In two weeks we'll be at Monkey Biz, celebrating Halloween. Hope to see you all out in some very scary/silly/slutty/strange costumes.
8/27 - Our first time playing in Kuna was super cool. After finding out our gig for the weekend fell through (f'n Schooner), we did some calling and the Redeye Bar & Grill came through for us on Saturday night. The crowd turned out to be really good, despite the last-minute booking and lack of advertising. We're looking forward to playing the Redeye again in a few weeks (9/14,9/15 - for their Annual Luau Party), and perhaps quite regularly (we're hoping) in the future. Thanks to Hoss & the staff for treating us so well. See you again soon. We're at Monkey Biz in two weeks (9/7,9/8).
7/28 - Last night we had an awesome "homecoming" show. Apparently, while we were out "on tour", our Nampa/Monkey Biz friends missed us. They must have been saving up for our return, because it was a full-on party from the first note we played. It felt great to be back in familiar surroundings. It was so much fun, were gonna do it again tonight, and again next weekend.
7/24 - Biker Bash was GOOD. If you were there, you know all about it. If you weren't, sorry, we aren't allowed to tell you. See you next year, Cottonwood.
7/18 - Just 2 days till Biker Bash...
7/16 - It was a succuessful weekend in Oregon. We ended up playing at Cadillac Jacks in Pendleton on Friday night. Thanks to the management/staff of Cadillac Jacks for the opportunity, and to all the locals in attendance for making it a great night. Saturday night we played the incredible Birchstock 2007(1st annual?) in Pilot Rock, OR. We were honored to follow a very cool band, Imperial Twang, and it was a pleasure to perform for a very enthusiastic crowd. Thanks to Jim & Debbie Burns for the invitation, and congrats on your renewed wedding vows. We can't wait till our next visit to Pilot Rock, whenever that will be. Finally, thanks to Jim & Colleen for welcoming us into your home again. We couldn't have been more comfortable, or better fed, anywhere else. And now let the countdown to Biker Bash commence: 4 DAYS TO GO
7/11 - So, apparently we're not playing at Cadillac Jacks this Friday. Not sure what happened, but now we're not on their schedule and we can't get any response from them. Looks like we'll have to find something else to do Friday night in Pendleton. Anyone else looking forward to Cottonwood?
7/03 - Happy 4th of July (tomorrow). We spent last weekend in Council, and it was great. The gigs at Wilson's were fun, and very well received. While in town, we were honored to attend the wedding of our friends Amy and Dustin. Congrats! Thanks to everyone who attended the gigs. We definately made some new friends, and we're looking forward to our next visit to Council already. We're in Pendleton in two weeks (July 13,14), and then it's on to Cottonwood for Biker Bash (July 20,21) the week after that. In case we haven't beaten this to death enough already...Biker Bash weekend kicks ass, so be there.
6/20 - It's another week off for us, and then we're on the road 3 of the next 4 weekends. Any of you Treasure Valley folks who are looking to get out of town for a weekend should really consider heading out to one of these road gigs. We'll make sure you know how to get there, and we'll help you figure out a place to stay. It's so much more fun for us when we can bring a bunch of our friends along to these shows.
6/14 - We're in the midst of a 4-week break. Some of us will be out and about, hitting the local bars/clubs this weekend. Maybe we'll see some of you out there.
5/28 - We were on the road this weekend. Friday night in Council was great. There was a good crowd of enthusiastic locals, and we couldn't have been treated better while we were in town. Thanks to the Wilson's staff for all the ways you accommodated our visit. Saturday we drove a couple more hours north to Cottonwood. The new owners of The Royal Room, Sara and Colleen, were very cool. They've done lots of things to improve the bar, and we were immediatley impressed. We had a great Saturday night, and ended up playing six sets to an awesome crowd. We can't wait for our chance to return to Council (June 29,30) and Cottonwood (July 20,21) later this summer. Thanks to all our friends & family (there were a ton of them) who were there with us over the weekend. This week we're back on our home stage, Monkey Bizness.
4/26 - The Eastside Tavern show (June 9) is cancelled.
4/17 - Two new shows confirmed. We'll be at The Eastside Tavern (Boise) on Saturday, June 9th, and at Cadillac Jack's (Pendleton,OR) on Friday, July 13th.
4/16 - We played in Pendleton,OR at Cadillac Jacks on Satuday night, and we can't wait to go back. The night was awesome. The first and biggest THANK YOU goes to Jim and Colleen Rogers. Aside from getting us the gig in the first place, Jim & Colleen provided us all with a comfortable place to stay, great food, and excellent company for the weekend. We couldn't have asked for more (Oh, and thanks for letting us borrow Jack these past few years). Next, THANK YOU to all the Rogers family/friends for showing up and partying with us. Thanks to Trudy and Barb for showing up to hang out with us. Thank you to all the Cadillac Jack's staff for making us feel welcome and for treating us so well. And finally, thanks to all the Pendleton/Pilot Rock folks who made it out Saturday and showed us their appreciation. ***BREAKING NEWS*** We're excited to announce that FIVE SMOOTH STONES has been confirmed as the headliner for BIRCHSTOCK 2007, Saturday, July 14th, in Pilot Rock,OR. More details to come.
4/4 - Alright, for those who were terribly concerned (which, by the way, was virtually no one - you guys do look at the website occasionally, right?), the "sad news" from the last entry was only an April Fools joke. Can you imagine what a pain in the ass it would be to have to make a name change at this point? No thanks.
4/1 - The "Local Bands" page has been updated. There are still plenty more bands to be added, and we hope it will continue to be an ever-expanding list of quality Boise area bands. Now for some bad news. Five Smooth Stones has been contacted recently by an attorney from California. The lawyer is representing a Los Angeles area band named "Five Smooth Stones". Basically, they have threatened to bring a lawsuit against us if we do not CEASE AND DESIST using the "Five Smooth Stones" name within 60 days. We'll get back to you all regarding this matter, just as soon as we figure out how we're going to proceed.
3/10 - New dates added! We have several "road gigs" coming up. We've booked shows in Pendleton,OR (4/14), Council (5/25,6/30), and Cottonwood (5/26,7/20-21). The weekend of July 20,21 is BIKER BASH weekend at The Royale Room. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Five Smooth Stones has been privilaged to play the event. Folks, if you haven't been to BIKER BASH, make plans to go this year and party your f'n ass off. We've also been asked to play another Harley Davidson dealership event, this time at High Desert HD in Boise (5/12).
3/08 - You may notice the website is undergoing some changes. More changes/updates are planned. The process may take several weeks, but feel free to offer your feedback anytime via the message board.
2/21 - We just booked THIS WEEKEND (Feb 23,24) at Monkey Bizness. Our friends Wild Card were booked for the weekend, but, due to an illness in their band, we were asked to fill in.
1/23 - New dates for 2007 are up in the "shows" area.
